Without rapport there is no success of hypnosis. Are you a hypnotist who wants to achieve success? If you are, then let me ask you please: Can you build a rapport with your potential client right from the first moment of your free consultation over the phone?
If not, then please stay here with me, because I will share with you how I establish a rapport with my clients. First of all, if you think that all you have to do is be friendly with your client, and rapport will appear by itself, you are wrong.
Don’t try to please your client by pretending that you are a nice person, because your client can take control and hypnotize you by telling you what to do. Also, don’t try to be a hypnotist who talks like a boss.
According to the Cambridge dictionary, rapport is a good understanding of someone and an ability to communicate well with them. You might say now that, as a hypnotist, you know a lot about many hypnosis techniques, and this naturally creates a rapport between you and your client. Well, may be, but:
Hypnotist’s rapport is not a friendship with a client.
Let’s imagine this scenario: Your client scheduled an appointment with you, thinking that you are a powerful hypnotist who knows a lot. Then he or she came to your office expecting that you will help them solve their problem.
You tried this technique and that method, but nothing seems to work because your client is getting nervous. Then he or she tell you that they are very disappointed and they are leaving you.
What happened? Are they just bad clients who don’t know anything about hypnosis? I think that you FAILED to build a rapport with your client in the first place!
Or you just ignored your intuitive feeling that there was no rapport during a consultation with your potential client. You thought that this client sounds friendly, the whole conversation over the phone was easy. You was happy because you had a new appointment.
Realize that If you don’t do anything, it will become a stubborn and painful problem for you. As a result, your income will become poor. And then…, use your imagination, what can happen with your business? Right? Of course!
Without rapport there is no success of hypnosis.
Write this statement in capital letters on a piece of paper and attach it to your bathroom mirror, so you can see it every morning and every night. Meditate on it. See it in your night dreams. Allow it to become your belief, if you really want to become a successful hypnotist, of course.
You probably have an itchy thought right now: Is Alexander going to share with me his secrets how to establish a rapport or not? Yes, my friend, I am doing it already.
Here is exactly what I do, in order to be sure that my client’s problem will go away with my help:
- I ask a person who calls me for a FREE consultation about his or her problem many questions. The potential client has to FEEL that a hypnotist is listening to him or her very carefully.
- If I FEEL that a person doesn’t really listen to me, I keep repeating the questions and wait for a moment when a picture of client’s problem becomes clear.
- Right on that moment I briefly explain to my potential client how I CAN HELP him or her, without telling them that “Hypnosis will help you”. So, the person who is connected with me via telephone, FEELS that his or her problem can be solved with my help, because a hypnotist (me) UNDERSTANDS their problem and knows what to do.
- There are some times when I may tell my potential client during a FREE consultation over the phone, that he or she is not ready, because they don’t really want to stop smoking ( what ever the problem is), and ask them to call me another time.
- Sometimes I have to say that I can’t help them. I finish our consultation like this because people are not listening to me at all. They know exactly what kind of hypnosis I must use to help them. For example, past life regression. When I ask them why they are sure that it will help them, the answer is like “I watched a you tube video about it”.
Rapport can be re-established, if it was lost during a session.
What to do when suddenly a client doesn’t go “under hypnosis” ? You may say that you can try another technique. yes, maybe, but if you client resist even to relax, there is no rapport between you and your client.
In this case, I will ask my client to keep his or her eyes closed and focus on what I am saying them. I continue giving suggestions as if nothing was happened. Then sooner or later, the “connection” is coming back.
Of course, there is one client from a hundred, who absolutely doesn’t want to cooperate with you. This means only one thing: You took a client without having a rapport with him or her during a FREE consultation over the phone!
It happens when a hypnotist get clients through marketing agency or a referral system. Please understand that if you don’t select your clients carefully, later you can have a serious problem, because the results of your hypnosis service will become poor.
So, it doesn’t matter if you have a dozen of hypnosis certificates and diplomas, if you don’t bother to build a rapport with your client. Do you know why? It is because hypnosis is not the power, but only a condition in which suggestibility of your client is increased.
If there is no hypnosis rapport with your client during a FREE consultation, it can’t be established later.
Do you best when you answer your potential client’s questions, in order to build a rapport. Pay attention to your intuition. If you feel that your possible client is not ready to make an appointment or even is not a right candidate for your service, say honestly that he or she is not ready yet. Let them call you back in a week or so.
Practice to ask your clients questions and listen to them very carefully. Keep asking until you feel that your client is connected with you. Then explain what are your fees and how many sessions they may need to get the results they hope to get.
If they agree to pay your fees, let them to make an appointment with you. But keep in your mind, that you need to have a rapport again when your client comes to your office! If you did it right in the first place, success of your hypnosis is very possible. Expect it to happen, but be aware that there is no guarantee of your success, even if you are the master of rapport.
